The Boston Bruins have reached a one year deal with young defenseman Matt Bartkowski for $1.25 million, according to several reports out of Boston. That's seven defensemen signed and only Torey Krug left to reach a deal. Krug is a restricted free agent.

The other Bruin that needs a new contract is winger Reilly Smith. He too is a restricted free agent. He is due for a raise from his $900,000 salary a year ago when came in from Dallas in the Tyler Seguin trade.

The B's are trying to manage a tight salary cap situation.

Some hockey observers think the Bruins may move a defenseman for help up front now that Jerome Iginla is gone.
