The UMaine Black Bears were locked in a 1-1 tie with Boston University in the third period Friday night. And then, the Terriers powerplay took over.

Bobo Carpenter and Jordan Greenway scored poweplay goals. Nikolas Olsson tacked on another goal. Within three minutes of time, BU had a 4-1 lead and a 7th straight win.

The Terriers outshot Maine 41 to 14.

The Black Bears lone goal was scored by Nolan Vesey in the first period.

Maine falls to 2-8-1 in Hockey East (8-12-3 overall). BU is now 8-2-2 and 15-5-2.

Game two of the weekend series is tonight at Alfond Arena in Orono.
