Buchholz Dealt To Philadelphia
The Boston Red Sox have traded some of their pitching depth on Tuesday as they dealt Clay Buchholz to the Philadelphia Phillies.
The righty was traded for second base prospect Josh Tobias who has yet to play above the Single A level within the Philadelphia organization. Tobias hit .291 in 2016 with 10 stolen bases and nine home runs. He was selected in the 10th round of the 2015 draft.
The entire $13.5 million left on Buchholz's contract will be picked up by the Phillies as part of the move. Buchholz has been with the Red Sox organization since 2005 and made his major league debut with Boston in 2007. He has a 81-61 record all-time with a 3.96 ERA.
