The Bucksport boys hosted Fort Kent Wednesday night for a spot in the Maine Principals' Association High School Basketball Tournament.

The No. 8 Golden Bucks took command early and never let up. The No. 9 Fort Kent Warriors closed the gap to 2 points in the last quarter thanks to the efforts of Cody Plourde, but the Golden Bucks prevailed 57-49, advancing to the tournament quarter finals for the first time since 2002.

Jimmy Osgood scored 13 points, earning McDonald's MVP honors.  Bucksport's Mitch Burgess scored 14 in the winning effort.

Fort Kent's high scorer was Charlie Nadeau, who dumped in 17 points.
