BU's Jack Eichel, BC's Noah Hanifin and Michigan's Zach Werenski helped set NCAA history at the NHL draft Friday night. It was the first time three current college hockey players were taken in the top-10 picks.

Eichel went #2 to Buffalo, Hanifin #5 to Carolina and Werenski #8 to Columbus.

Both Eichel and Hanifin played against the UMaine Black Bears this past season. Eichel had two goals and two assists in two games vs Maine. Hanifin had an assist in two games vs the Black Bears.

Four other incoming college players were taken in the first round, including Colin White(#21 pick to Ottawa) who is BC bound and Brock Boeser(#23 pick to Vancouver) who has signed to play for North Dakota.

Maine plays UND in Portland at the Ice Breaker Tournament October 10th.
