Trevon Butler's shot at the buzzer from just beyond the half court stripe lifted the Husson Eagles to an 84-81 win over Springfield in the opening round of the Naismith Classic.

Springfield tied the game at 81 with a couple foul shots with just seconds remaining in the game. Butler then took the inbound pass and dribbled near the half court line when he let the ball fly which hit nothing but net to give the Eagles the win and a spot in tonight's championship game.

It's the third time in Butler's Husson career that he hit a game winning shot at the buzzer and the senior who was playing near his hometown finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Raheem Anderson led the Eagles with a game high 27 points. Justin Martin came off the bench to score 10 points and haul down 6 boards.

The 5-3 Eagles will play Bates for the championship tonight at 7:30. The two teams have already played once this season in Lewiston with the Bobcats coming away with a 19 point victory.
