Maine's own Brian Butterfield is leaving the Boston Red Sox coaching staff to link up with Theo Epstein in the Windy City.

Butterfield, who grew up in the state of Maine and played at UMaine in college, had been with the Red Sox since 2013 under manager John Farrell.  The Sox announced that all the coaches were free to explore other coaching positions after Farrell was fired by the team.

He will take over the position from Gary Jones who had held that role with the Cubs since 2004.  Carl Willis also left the Sox coaching staff on Thursday and announced he would be heading to Cleveland to become the pitching coach with the Indians.
