Former UMaine defenseman and now NY Islanders coach Jack Capuano has been selected as an assistant coach for Team USA in the upcoming 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

Team USA's head coach is another former UMaine Black Bear, current Columbus Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella.

The World Cup of Hockey is a new hockey event, set to be staged in Toronto from September 17th to October 1st. Eight teams from around the world, including the United States, Canada and Russia will compete.

Capuano's Islanders are currently in 4th place in the NHL East.

Tortorella's Blue Jackets are in last place. He took over as head coach seven games into the NHL season.
