It’s time for you to help us decide who should be the winner of this week’s High School Athlete of the Week.  This time we have a tremendous scorer on the girls’ soccer pitch, a receiver with a bunch of TDs, and one of the fastest boys’ cross country runners in the state.

Junior Mackenzie Carter of Ashland Community High School has had a season and career to remember on the soccer pitch for the Hornets as the team wrapped up an unbeaten regular season last Friday.  Carter scored two of the four goals in the Hornets’ win against Hodgdon to give her 43 on the season.  With only three years played for Ashland, she already has 103 total goals.  Carter has already broken the school record for goals in a season that was set by herself and Savannah Flint in 2015, and surpassed the latter’s career goals mark, previously set at 98.  She’s helped the Hornets to a record of 14-0.

George Stevens Academy senior cross country runner John Hassett took home another win in this past weekend’s PVC Cross Country Championship in Old Town.  Hassett earned the win with a time of 16:26.20, a full minute better than the prior course record in Old Town, and won the race by 51 seconds.  The senior has won the PVC Championship three straight years and will try to defend his state championship in the Class C ranks on October 29th.

Dexter Regional High School senior Zach White was one of the key contributors for the Tigers' 34-28 win over Mount View this past Saturday.  White had four touchdowns including a 70-yard punt return score, and three receiving TDs.  His touchdowns were from 58, 54, and 6 yards with the latter being the game winner.  Dexter is now 6-1 on the season after the win.

The decision is up to you to choose who you think is the High School Athlete of the Week between these three great performers!
