Sox Bullpen Struggles, Lose 10-9 [VIDEO]

The Red Sox and Blue Jays battled back and forth during the game during Saturday afternoon, but when the dust settled, it was Toronto that came out on top in a 10-9 victory.

David Ortiz hit a home run in the top of the ninth inning to break the 8-8 deadlock between the two teams after the Blue Jays had scored four times in the half inning prior.  The homer was Ortiz's 13th of the season and he now has 46 RBIs as well.  The Jays would come back in the bottom of the ninth inning against Sox closer Craig Kimbrel off of a RBI single by Russell Martin and then a Devon Travis hit that would later score the catcher.

Rick Porcello pitched well for the Sox, getting a no decision and allowing four runs on seven hits over 6.2 innings pitched.  The bullpen struggled in the contest in the eighth as Tommy Layne surrendered two runs without retiring a batter and Junichi Tazawa also gave up two scores in just one out.  Craig Kimbrel took the loss after giving up two runs in the ninth inning in his longest outing of the season.

Tom Brady, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Jacoby Brissett all received even amounts of snaps during the practice, which is similar to the split from the OTAs in 2015.  Top selection Cyrus Jones intercepted a pass by Brissett during the practice and the latter later completed a nice pass to new receiver Malcolm Mitchell.  The practice was also the first the media were able to see from Chris Long and Terrance Knighton on the field with the Patriots.
