In the final minutes before the NBA trade deadline the Boston Celtics acquired point guard Isaiah Thomas from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for guard Marcus Thornton and a draft pick.

Thomas is a small guard who's been in the league for four years. He is more of a dribble penetrator type guard. He is in the first year of a 4-year $28 million dollar contract.

The C's gave up shooting guard Marcus Thornton and next year's draft pick that was acquired from the Cleveland Cavs.

In another last minute deal, the Cetlics traded Tayshaun Prince to the Detroit Pistons and will get back two players, Jonas Jerebko and Luigi Datome. Both have expiring contracts and may never play for the C's.
