A day after failing to sign Jon Lester, Red Sox General Manager Ben Cherington talked about the process and worked to acquire a starter. On Wednesday Cherington discussed the teams failed attempt to get Lester saying they wish more time would have been afforded them to negotiate. Lester signed with the Chicago Cubs for 6 years and $155 million dollars.

Needing to add to their starting rotation, several published reports say the team has worked out a deal with Arizona that gets them starting pitcher Wade Miley in exchange for Allen Webster, Ruby De La Rosa and another minor league player. The 28 year old Miley has been an all-star in the past and is under contract for another four years.
