UMaine women’s basketball underwent successful surgery called craniotomy at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. His wife, Maureen, tweeted the update on Thursday.
Barron has taken a leave of absence from coaching to deal with a rare condition that left him with numbness, pain and weakness in his arms and legs.
The University of Maine promoted assistant coach Amy Vachon to interim head coach and will run the program this season.
The Black Bears open their season in late Octomber.
