Former Secretary of Defense William Cohen will be inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame at the annual banquet on May 5th. Cohen joins a list of 9 other inductees.

Dick Whitmore, president of the state hall of fame, says "this is a most significant induction for our organization. We are delighted to add his name to the impressive list of men and women who comprise one of the most oustanding Hall of Fame rosters anywhere."

Cohen was an All-State basketball player at Bangor High School. He went on to captain Bowdoin College basketball, graduating from Bowdoin in 1962.

His political career has included representing Maine as a Congressman and Senator. He served under President Clinton as Secretary of Defense.

Others to be inducted in the Maine Sports Hall of Fame on May 5th include Ricky Craven, Paula Doughty, Manch Wheeler, Paul Vachon, John Wolfgram, Gary Fifield, Skip Robinson, Paul Russo, Douglas Brown,MD.
