Jack Cosgrove admitted he felt a little bit like a rookie coach all over again. Bright and early Monday morning, the longtime UMaine Black Bears coach began putting his stamp on Colby College Mules football with the first day of training camp on the Waterville campus.

UMaine's winningest coach stepped away from coaching and into administration in November of 2015. 23 years as head coach, plus more years before as a quaterback and assistant coach for the Black Bears.

But after two years away from the coaching, Cosgrove felt refreshed and wanted back in.

The Colby College job opened up and he wanted it.

Mules football has been around since 1892 and plays in a tough NESCAC Conference. Colby finished 1-8 a year ago.

Colby opens the season on September 15th with Trinity (Conn) coming to Waterville.
