Former UMaine quarterback Dan Collins is back on the active roster in the CFL and has an enhanced role as well.

Collins, who played last season for the Black Bears, will be the back-up quarterback for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League.  He was active for the Ottawa side last week and will back-up former NFL QB Ryan Lindley in the contest.  In addition, he will also be the holder for kicker Brett Maher in the game.

In his senior season with the Black Bears, Collins passed for 2,375 yards on 166 completions with connecting for 18 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.  He also joins former Black Bear teammate Sherrod Baltimore on the active roster for Ottawa.

The Redblacks will play Winnipeg on Friday night in the fourteenth week of the CFL season.  Ottawa is 5-7-1 on the year and are tied for the top spot in the East Division.
