The Red Sox lost their hold on first place in the AL East with a 2-1 loss to the Rays at Fenway Park. The big play came in the bottom of the 8th inning with Boston trailing 2-1. Daniel Nava tried to score on a sacrafice fly and was called out at the plate. The replay shows Nava got his foot on the plate should have been called safe. After the game umpire Jerry Meals told a pool reporter "What I saw was: Molina blocked the plate and Nava's foot lifted, But in the replays, you could clearly see Nava's foot got under for a split second and then lifted, so I was wrong on my decision. From the angle I had, I did not see his foot get under Molina's shin guard."

David Price went 7.1 innings to get the win while Felix Doubront allowed both Tampa Bay runs and took the loss.

The Red Sox remain at Fenway and start a series against Seattle on Tuesday, Brandon Workman will get the start for Boston.
