Justin Courtney struck out 13 Morrill Post batters to help the Comrades win their opening game in the State American Legion tournament 4-1.Courtney allowed just 5 hits and 2 walks over 8 innings for his 5th win of the season. With the game tied at one in the fourth inning, Ryan Brookings singled to left field to drive in Hunter Boyce with the go-ahead run. Kyle Stevenson added 2 hits and an rbi while Hunter Boyce also had 2 hits.

Bangor will play Pastime of Lewiston in the winners bracket game tonight at 6:30.

In other games on the opening day of the tourney, Brewer beat Staples Crossing of Elliot 4-1 in 10 innings. The Falcons scored 3 times in the 10th to pull out the win and move into the winners bracket. Kyle Alexander pitched the first 9 innings allowing 5 hits and striking out 6. Next up is a 3:30 game against Bessey Motors.

Bessey collected 12 hits on their way to a 7-2 win over Post 51 of Oakland.

Pastime from Lewiston advanced in the winners bracket after pushing across a run in the bottom of the 9th to beat Franklin County 3-2.
