Crews Battling Wildfire in Brewer

Crews in Brewer are battling a wildfire at this hour. Extremely dry conditions have been causing problems around the region.

Brewer Police closed the Wiswell Road, from the Greenpoint Road to the town line while the fire is brought under control. Traffic is now moving through the area.

The Maine Forest Service has issued a Red Flag Alert, meaning that the fire danger is at critical levels. Very dry conditions, paired with warm temperatures, low relative humidity, and gusty winds are causing dangerous conditions.

Residents reported hearing an explosion before the fire.
