The Boston Celtics want to keep free agent forward Jae Crowder and they have made a $1.2-million-dollar qualifying offer to prove it.

Crowder is certain to make more than $1.2M but by making a qualifiying offer, the Celtics make him a restricted free agent and that means the C's have the right to match any offer he gets from another club.

Crowder came from Dallas in the Rajon Rondo trade and turns out to be the only player the C's acquired still in Boston. He averaged almost 10 points and 5 rebounds in 57 games for the Celtics. Crowder is just 24-years-old.

NBA free agency starts Wednesday, July 1st.
