The Boston Celtics will be joining the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox as major Boston sports team that will be playing a regular season game outside of the continent of North America.

The NBA league office announced that the Cs will be heading to London, England to play a regular season game versus the Philadelphia 76ers.  The game is scheduled for January 11th and will be held in the O2 Arena in the city.  Boston will be designated as the away team for the game.

said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver in the league release Thursday morning.

The match-up will feature Markelle Fultz facing the team that traded the draft rights of the number one pick that ultimately landed the talented guard in Philadelphia.

This will be the eighth regular-season game to be played in London by the NBA, with Boston playing across the Atlantic Ocean in just pre-season games prior to this upcoming January contest.

The Patriots have played multiple time in London over the past decade, while the Boston Red Sox have started the MLB season once in Japan before in the past as well.
