The Caribbean Island of Curacao is coming to Mansfield Stadium in Bangor for the Senior League World Series for a fourth time. Pariba LL from Willemstad, Curacao won the Latin America Regional, beating Panama in the championship game 2-1.

Curacao went 5-0 in the regional played in Panama, including wins over teams from the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

Curacao is an island located off the coast of Venezuela.

Curacao has played in the 2002, 2003 and 2008 SLWS at Bangor. An overall record of 12-5 and one world title in 2002.

Several players from Curacao who played at Mansfield Stadium as 16-year-olds have gone on the the majors...Jair Jurrjens (Braves, Rockies, Tigers, O's)), Kenley Jansen (LA Dodgers closer), Jonathan Schoop (Baltimore 2nd baseman), Jurickson Profar (Texas Rangers). Former UMaine Black Bear player Curt Smith also played for Curacao.

10 teams from around the world (ages 15/16) gather in Bangor starting August 10th for the SLWS. Italy, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and Bangor (host team) have already won the right to play in the series.
