The Ellsworth Eagles got a 26 point performance from junior Jackson Curtis and beat the Orono Red Riots 46-36 on New Year's Eve afternoon. The victory moves the Eagles from #7 to #3 in the Heal Points in Class B North.

The two teams met on opening night back in early December and Orono won by 10 so the Eagles evened the score.

Ellsworth improves to 5-2 while Orono drops to 4-3.

The Eagles turned the ball over nine times in the first half but Curtis kept them in the game scoring all nine points in the first quarter and 17 of 21 in the first half.

Ryan Shorette led Orono with 13 points. Connor Robertson and Zack Dill each had 11.

Both teams now meet unbeaten Hermon next. The Red Riots play them Thursday while the Eagles play the Hawks next Saturday.
