The defending state champion Houlton Shiretowners were able to hold off the Foxcroft Academy Ponies Saturday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor to claim their third straight regional title.

No. 3 Foxcroft was able to tie the game at 29 midway through the fourth quarter, but the top-seed Houlton was able to extend its lead and finish with a 42-31 final score and a Class B North title.

Junior Kolleen Bouchard led the 20-1 Shiretowners with 16 points. Aspen Flewelling and Rylee Warman each had six points.

Grace Bickford led the Ponies with nine points. Kendra Ewer added 8 points.

Foxcroft Academy finishes the season at 16-5.

Houlton will play South champion Gray-New Gloucester (20-1) in the state finals at 6:05 p.m. on Friday, March 3  in Augusta.
