If American Pharoah is going to win the Belmont Stakes on Saturday and become the first Triple Crown winner since 1978, a starting spot near the inside rail might be necessary.

They will draw for post positions today at 11:15am in New York.

Bob Baffert's horse remains the heavy favorite at 4-5 odds. It looks like there will be no more than eight horses in the field.

American Pharoah has Kentucky Derby and Preakness wins and now faces the longest race of the three on Saturday. More horses have won the Belmont from the rail than any other starting spot.

NOTE:  Live coverage of American Pharoah racing for the Triple Crown begins at 5pm on Saturday on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket.
