Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison ignited an old debate this weekend when he went public about giving back some participation trophies that had been given to his sons at an athletic camp.  Harrison said, "While I am very proud of my boys for everything they do and will encourage them until the day I die, these trophies will be given back until they EARN a real trophy".

Some would say the passing out of participation trophies to kids has watered down the competitiveness in young athletes, while others would say it's a nice gesture and keeps the kids feeling positive about their experience.  Where do you fall on this question?
