Husson University sophomore golfer Gavin Dugas fired a 1-over par 73 at the NCAA Division III Championships in Florida today. Heading into the final round of competition he is four strokes off the lead in the national tournament.

Dugas had closed to within two shots of the lead but triple bogeyed the 17th hole. He came back to birdie the last hole and is +5 (221) for the tournament, tied for 12th place.

Two players are tied for the lead at +1.

The final round of competition is tomorrow.

Dugas is a former Maine high school champion player from MCI in Pittsfield. His father, Mike, is the Husson golf coach.

The Husson team did not make the cut in the team competition, finishing in a tie for 36th place.
