The Husson University men's basketball team lost its final game before the holiday break. Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) beat the Eagles 86-71 in Massachusetts Sunday afternoon.

Every starter for (9-0) WPI scored in double figures. Jake Wisniewski led with 19.

The Eagles got down 18-8 in the first ten minutes and trailed by a dozen at the half.

Husson battled back to grab a 66-60 lead with about eight minutes left play, thanks to two Justin Martin baskets.

But the Engineers came back to outscore the Eagles 26 to 5 in those final eight minutes. Just two field goals in that time period for the Eagles.

Justin Thompson came off the bench to lead Husson in scoring with 18. Martin had another double-double day with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Husson drops to 6-3 and resumes play in the D3hoops Classic Tournament in Las Vegas after Christmas.
