Opening night went just fine for the Husson Eagles basketball teams. A sweep of longtime rival St. Joseph's College.The men's team scores a 75-54 victory and the women's team wins 77-50.

In the men's matchup, the Eagles defense held to Monks to 28% shooting from the field and just 23% from the three-point line.

Husson led 34-19 at the half.

An early second half surge by St. Joe's got the Monks to within seven points but the Eagles quickly got the lead back to double digits.

Mitch Worcester led Husson with 22 points, including 4-for-6 from the three-point line. Alonzo McCain added 12.

In the women's game, the Eagles jumped out to a 22-7 lead after one quarter and never let the Monks back in the contest.

Darla Morales scored 21 points, including 5-for-9 three pointers. Kenzie Worcester added 19.

Husson dominated the stat sheet, out rebounding the Monks 48-26. The Eagles got 19 assists from the 77 points. St. Joe's maanged just 3 assists all night.
