The Washburn boys play Central Aroostook in the first game of the evening with Hodgdon and Easton wrapping up the night.
Easton Bears take on the Hodgdon Hawks to see who'll meet Central Aroostook
Jared Hafford scored 18 of Easton's 24 point, but it wasn't enough as Easton fell to the Hodgdon Hawks 26-24 in the Class D nightcap from the Bangor Auditorium. The Hawks move on to meet the Central Aroostook Panthers.
Class D Boys Washburn Beavers meet the Central Aroostook Panthers
It could have been anyone's game and that's just what it was as the Beavers and the Panthers passed the lead back and forth all night long. In fact, right up to the end when with 2 seconds of play left they tied and went into overtime. Both teams played feverishly but in the end it was Central Aroostook with a 66-63 win.
Washburn Girls Dominate To Reach "D" Title Game
The Washburn Beavers once again prove just how good they are by advancing to their third straight Eastern Maine Class D title game 87-42 over the Machias Bulldogs. The Beavers lead from start to finish, pulling away early, taking a 20 point lead after just the first quarter. Mackenzie Worcester lead the Beavers with 29 points showing that she deserves to be considered one of the best players in the girls' tourney. The Eastern Maine girls' Class D title game will be Saturday morning at 9:00 am featuring the #1 & #2 seeded teams, Washburn and Schenck.
Schenck Girls Earn Trip To Finals in Exciting Fashion
The Schenck Worlverine's squeaked out a hard-earned win over the Hawks of Hodgdon to earn a spot in the EM Class "D" girls' championship game, 54-52. Morgan Thompson lead all scorers for Schenck with 22 points, including the game winning hoop with less than 10 seconds on the clock. Hodgdon trailed much of the game but made a spirited comeback in the 4th quarter, but the pairing of Thompson along with her sister, senior Kristin, proved to be just too much as the #2 seeded Wolverines were able to prevail and will play for the Eastern Maine D title on "Championship Saturday"
