The second-seed Ellsworth Eagles boys opened up a lead in the second quarter and didn't look back as they defeated the MCI Huskies in Saturday Class B quarterfinal action in Bangor.

The game was tied at 10 at the end of the first quarter, but Ellsworth exploded in the second, outscoring the Huskies 22-2. The Eagles didn't look back, controlling the game the rest of the way and punching their ticket to the semifinals with a 56-28 win.

Ellsworth was led by senior Bruce St. Peter with 15 points. He was named the McDonald's Player of the Game.

Ellsworth will play Caribou on Wednesday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Caribou upset the No. 3 seed Washington Academy Raiders on Friday to earn a trip to the semifinals.
