Ellsworth Girls Win at Buzzer 39-37

The Ellsworth Girl's Basketball team defeated Foxcroft Academy, Tuesday, January 20th 39-37 in a game that was played at Katsiaficas Gymnasium, as Ellsworth's Sammy Mason put back a missed shot at the buzzer!

The game was tied 8-8 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Hailee Langley had 4 points for Ellsworth, while Emily Berry and Caitlin Bean had two points each. Liz Richard had a 3-pointer, Grace Bickford had 2 points, Abby Simpson had 2 points and Madison Chadbourne had 1 point for the Ponies.

At the end of the 1st Half, Foxcroft Academy led Ellsworth 22-12. Bickford poured in 7 points, Allie Bourget had a 3-pointer, Kendra Ewer had 2 points and Richard added another 2 points for Foxcroft Academy. For Ellsworth, Bean and Madison Card had 2 points.

Ellsworth cut the lead in the 3rd Quarter, as the Ponies led 28-25. The Eagles played tenacious defense in the 3rd Quarter, and Card hit 2 3-pointers, Bean had 3 points, Berry had 2 points and Sammy Mason had 2 points for Ellsworth. For Foxcroft Academy Richard had 2 points, and Simpson had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Berry had 6 points for Ellsworth, Mason had 4 points including the game winner, Langley had 2 points and Bean and Card each went 1-2 from the free throw line. For the Ponies, Ewer had a 3-pointer, Bourget had 2 points, Richard had another 2 ppoints and Simpson went 2-2 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Emily Berry with 10 points, while Maddie Card had 9 points and Caitlin Bean had 8 points. The Eagles were 5-15 from the free throw line.

Foxcroft Academy was led by Grace Bickford who had a game high 11 points while Liz Richard had 9 points. The Poniew were 4-7 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 9-5, and the Eagles will play host to Presque Isle Friday night, January 23rd at 6 PM and Caribou on Saturday, January 24th at 11:30 AM.

Foxcroft Academy is now 3-11 and plays at Hermon, Friday night January 23rd at 7 PM.
