Red Sox manager John Farrell called interim closer Brad Ziegler 'a Godsend' after Ziegler got the Minnesota Twins 1-2-3 in the 9th inning to preserve an 8-7 win.

The Sox had an 8-3 lead on the strength of home runs from Hanley Ramirez, Dustin Pedroia and Travis Shaw.

But the bullpen was shaky again until Junichi Tazawa got a big out in the 8th and then Ziegler pitched a perfect 9th.

Rick Porcello got the win, going 6.2 innings and allowing 5 runs. He picks up his 13th win. He is 10-0 at Fenway Park.

The Sox (55-41) gain no ground on Baltimore, a game and a half behind in the AL East.
