Seattle slugger Nelson Cruz hit a walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Red Sox 2-1 Friday night. But, don't blame Junichi Tazawa who threw the pitch, blame manager John Farrell.

In fact, Farrell took the blame before any reporter could ask a question in the post game press conference.

"That's a terrible decision on my part." said Farrell. With a Mariner runner at second base and first base open, Farrell elected to pitch to Cruz, Seattle's best hitter.

The crushing loss overshadows a great performance from starter Clay Buchholz. He pitched eight innings, giving up just one run on three hits. Buchholz struck out 11 and did not walk a batter. He left the game with 102 pitches in a 1-1 tie.

Game three of the four game series begins at 4pm this afternoon.
