Several of the most powerful officials in world soccer have been arrested in Switzerland on corruption charges. Authorities raided a hotel in Zurich where FIFA officials have gathered for their annual meeting.

Sepp Blatter, who is president of FIFA and up for re-election this week, is not among those arrested.

The Swiss plan to extradite the soccer officials to the U.S. and attorney general  Loretta Lynch has announced 14 indictments.

FIFA is the world governing body of soccer.

Investigations include the awarding of World Cup to Russia in 2018 and the awarding of the World Cup to Qatar in 2022. The probes are looking into corruption, bribes and kickbacks among other issues.

The 2015 Women's World Cup Tournament, hosted by Canada, begins June 6th.
