Fifield Retires After 27 Years, 660 Wins
After 27 years of running one of the most successful division three basketball programs in the northeast, Gary Fifield is retiring as University of Southern Maine women's coach. He is also retiring as Associate Director of Athletics.
Fifield took over the USM Huskies in 1987 and won 27 games on the way to a final four appearance. His teams went on to make the NCAA tournament in 24 of his 27 seasons.
A total of five trips to the division three final four event.
His record at USM, 660-137.
This past year his Huskies were 12-14.
