Veteran pitcher Doug Fister pitched well enough to win in his Red Sox debut but the inconsistent offense reared its ugly head again Sunday afternoon. The LA Angels leave Fenway with a 4-2 win.

Fister, who was claimed off waivers on Friday, pitched into the 7th inning giving up just three runs. All three scored in the 2nd inning after a doubleplay 'out' call got overturned on replay.

The Sox offense generated just eight hits. Two were solo home runs by Mitch Moreland and Jackie Bradley Jr.

The Sox dip to 41-34 but the Yankees keep losing too and so the teams remain in a virtual tie for 1st place in the AL East.
