Five Vie For High School Athlete Of The Week [VOTE]

It’s time for you to help us decide again who should be the winner of this week’s McDonald’s High School Athlete of the Week.  We have five great weekly performances this week for you to choose from.

Austin Pelletier of Messalonskee High School had a game to remember in the 57-42 win over Skowhegan on Friday night.  Pelletier ran for seven total touchdowns and rushed for 341 yards on 33 carries to help the Eagles come out on top.  With the win the Messalonskee side is 2-1 on the year with a game versus Hampden Academy on the docket this week.

Senior Sydney Allen of Central High School had a great week on the pitch as team won two games.  Allen tallied four goals and two assists in a 12-2 victory over Bangor Christian, and also notched two goals and four assists in a 7-1 win versus Penquis earlier in the year.  On the season the Central team is 4-1 on the year.

MCI’s Adam Bertrand had a nice game for the Huskies on both sides of the ball in a 52-14 victory over Belfast.  Bertrand ran for 121 yards on 11 carries and scored three touchdowns.  In addition to that offense, he also logged two interceptions, including a 43-yard pick six in the contest.

MDI running back Colby Lee had a great week for the Trojans and their 43-22 victory versus Bucksport.  Lee rushed 21 times and had 288 yards on the ground, including four touchdowns.  He also chipped in with a reception for five yards and recorded an interception too.  The MDI side is now 2-1 on the season after the win.

Brewer’s Gavin Matthieu was a force on the soccer pitch this week for the currently unbeaten Witches.  In three games played for Brewer, the senior notched two goals in each contest versus MCI, Waterville, and Winslow for six combined goals for the week.  The Witches are 5-0 on the season with the top position in the Class B North boys’ standings.

The decision is up to you to choose who you think is the McDonald’s High School Athlete of the Week between these five great athletes from this past week!
