Flaherty Runs By Bucks, Wins State D Title
The Bucksport football team suffered their first loss of the season in the final game of the season, losing to Oak Hill in the class D State Championship 42-35.Raiders running back Kyle Flaherty put on a show at Fitzpatrick Stadium rushing for 115 yards on 40 carries to help win the school's first state title since 1982. Quarterback Parker Asselin went 6-10 for 166 yards and a touchdown.
Bucksport who finishes the season with a 10-1 record got 132 yards passing and 4 touchdowns from junior quarterback Matthew Stewart to lead the bucks offense.
The class A title went to Bonny eagles who beat Cheverus 31-28 after getting a Zach Dubiel touchdown run with just 28 seconds left. The gold ball is the 5th in 10 years for the Scots.
