The UMaine men's basketball team made sure the first win of the year was memorable. A double overtime 75-68 thrilling win over Atlantic 10 Fordham.

Forward Andrew Fleming put on a show. He played 50 minutes and scored 29 points and hauled down 12 rebounds.

Isaiah White was the other Black Bear in double figure scoring with 10.

The two teams were tied at 55 at the end of regulation. Both teams scored eight points in the first overtime. And the Maine outscored the Rams 12-5 in the second OT.

The Black Bears are no 1-8, getting that first victory under new coach Richard Barron.

The Fordham Rams fall to 6-2.

UMaine Women 67  Harvard 60: In Cambridge, Massachusetts junior Blanca Millan scored a season high 26 points to lead the Black Bears to their 6th win (6-2). She became the 20th Maine player to reach the 1,000 career point mark.

Dor Saar dished out nine assists and 11 points.

The Bears have now won four in a row and will play another Ivy League team, Brown, at the Cross Center in Bangor Saturday afternoon.

Harvard is now 4-5.
