Former Black Bear Nyquist Gets Silver Medal

Forme UMaine Black Bear Gustav Nyquist and his Team Sweden hockey team had to settle for a silver medal at the Sochi Olympics. Canada defeated the Swedes 3-0 in the gold medal game.

Nyquist was a late add to the Swedish team roster in the days leading up to the games.

Nyquist, former UMaine goalie Jimmy Howard (Team USA) and Matthias Trattnig (Team Austria) are all former Maine Black Bears who made olympic teams.

Nyquist logged just over ten minutes of ice time in the loss to Canada.

Nyquist and his Red Wings resume their NHL schedule later this week.
