Former MLB pitcher and Bangor HS star Matt Kinney has been named new baseball coach at Hermon High School. The 37-year-old Kinney retired back in 2010 and has moved back to Maine from Arizona.

Back in 1995, Kinney was drafted out of Bangor High School in the 6th round by the Boston Red Sox. While in the Sox minor system he was trade of a late season trade to the Minnesota Twins.

Between 2000 and 2005 Kinney pitched for several big league clubs, including the Milwaukee Brewers, Kansas City Royals and San Francison Giants. He appeared in 103 MLB games, 58 of them as a starter. His record was 19-27 with a 5.29 ERA.

At Hermon HS he takes over from Justin Perry who took over the Hawks on an interim basis in the middle of season last spring.

Megan McCrum will take over the Hermon softball program. She replaces Stephanie Biberstein who is now Hermon's athletic administrator.
