Former University of Maine basketball captain Jim Boylen is the new associate head coach of the Chicago Bulls, joining new head coach Fred Hoiberg.

Boylen has been San Antonio Spurs top assistant under Greg Popovich for the past two seasons. He has been a part of the coaching staff for three NBA title teams(last year's Spurs and two with Houston).

The Bulls brought in Hoiberg from the college ranks(Iowa State) to replace Tom Thibodeau and want Boylen to help with the transition from college to the pros.

Boylen has coached in college and the NBA for 27 years.

In 1986-87, Boylen captained the UMaine Black Bears and he finished runner-up to Reggis Lewis for North Atlantic Conference player of the year honors.
