Jim Boylen2

Former UMaine Black Bear basketball captain Jim Boylen is joining the San Antonio Spurs coaching staff - just as Mainer Brett Brown departs to become head coach in Philly.

Boylen spent the past NBA season on the Indiana Pacers bench, helping that team get to the Eastern Conference Finals.

He has other NBA coaching experience with the Houston Rockets and Milwaukee Bucks.

From 2007-2001 Boylen was head coach of the University of Utah Utes.

Back in 1987, Boylen was captain of Skip Chappelle's UMaine team. He averaged 21PPG and finished runner-up for player of the year honors to Northeastern's Reggie Lewis.
