It was a tough second round in the NCAA tournament for former UMaine coaches as Joanne P. McCallie’s Duke team and Sharon Versyp’s Purdue teams lost.McCallie’s #2 Blue Devils were upset by #7 DePaul 74-65. The Blue Demons hit 14 three pointers while Duke turned the ball over a season high 21 times. The loss for Duke is the first at home in 18 years.

Versyp’s Boilermakers, the #4 seed fell to #5 Oklahoma State 73-66 behind a 20 point, 20 rebound performance from Brittney Martin. It’s the fourth straight year Purdue has lost in the second round, two of those four losses have come at home. Versyp and the Boilermakers finish the season with a 22-9 record.
