Four Arrested in Heroin Bust

Four people are facing charges connected to the distribution of heroin. MDEA agents seized thousands in drugs after searching one suspect's home.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says four men from Washington County have been arrested following an investigation between the Washington County Sheriff's Department and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. Deputies and drug agents searched the home of Robert Clark Woodward on Maple Road in Columbia, during the early hours of April 1st.

Seized in the raid was approximately 10 grams of heroin, with a street value of about $4,000, a small amount of crack cocaine, and other evidence of drug trafficking. The investigation was the result of an undercover purchase of heroin form Woodward's residence.

Charged in the case are:

• Robert Clark Woodward, 46 of Columbia, Class B Trafficking in Schedule W drugs (Heroin)
• Matthew Brooks, 33, of Cherryfield, Class C Possession of Schedule W Drugs (Heroin)
• Owen Fickett, 28, of Cherryfield, Class C Possession of Schedule W Drugs (Heroin)
• Harold Tenney, 54, of Columbia, Class C Possession of Schedule W Drugs (Heroin)

The four were taken to the Washington County Jail. State Police also assisted in the investigation, which is ongoing and more arrests are likely. Sheriff Barry Curtis said addressing the influx of illicit drugs into Washington County is a top priority of his administration and stands committed in working with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, and other law enforcement partners, to address this growing problem.
