Garet Beal and Martha Veroneau Best Of The Best

Say hello to Mr.Basketball...Garet Beal and Miss Basketball...Martha Veroneau. Those awards highlight the start of McDonald's High School All Star Weekend at Husson University in Bangor.

Garet Beal averaged 33 ppg, 10 rpg and 7 apg for Jonesport-Beals HS. He will play for the UMaine Black Bears in the fall. Mitch Worcester from Washburn and John Murray from Medomak Valley were the other finalists for Mr.Basketball.

Martha Veroneau,led her Waynflete team to a Class C state title. She averaged 20 ppg and 5 rpg during regular season play and pumped in 34 in the state game. Leavitt's Kristen Anderson and Presque Isle's Chandler Guerrette were the other finalists for Miss Basketball.

For trivia buffs, the first Mr. and Miss Basketball awards were given out back in 1988. Tim Scott from Ellsworth was Mr. Basketball. Julie Bradstreet was Miss Basketball.
