Much like their preseason opener the New England Patriots first unit struggled. However, this week the Pats came back to beat New Orleans 26-24.Tom Brady played the first three series and went failed to pick up a first down in each time. Brady has now gone three-and-out in all five series he has played in the first two games.

Jimmy Garoppolo played the rest of the game going 28-33 for 269 yards with a touchdown and an interception. His touchdown pass came with just 14 seconds to play in the first half and got the Pats on the board after the Saints scored the first 21 points of the game.

New England built momentum in the fourth quarter scoring 12 points including two Stephen Gostkowsi field goals to complete the comeback win.

The Patriots offense struggled to run the ball managing just 82 total yards on the ground, although James White had a 3 yard touchdown run and Dion Lewis added an 11 yard touchdown run.

Defense was a problem for the Patriots first unit especially in the pass game. The Pats experimented with Devin McCourty at cornerback and Duron Harmon at safety which could only be described as a failure with Drew Brees throwing for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns in just three series of play.

New England returns to Gillette Stadium on Friday for a game against Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. You can hear that game live on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket.
