And the winners are...Mr. Maine Basketball, Hampden Academy senior Nick Giplin and Miss Maine Basketball, Lawrence HS senior Nia Irving.

The announcement came at Friday night's McDonald's AllStar Weekend banquet in Bangor. Both will play in Saturday's North vs South allstar games.

Gilpin was a 1,000 point scorer and 500 assists player in his four year career as point guard for the Broncos. He helped Hampden win three regional titles and two state titles.

Irving scored 1,700 points and 1,200 rebounds in her four year career for the Bulldogs. She helped Lawrence win one state championship and two regional titles. Earlier this week, Irving was also named Maine's Gatorade Player of the Year.

The Mr. and Miss Maine Basketball Awards began in 1988 when Ellsworth's Tim Scott and Central Aroostook's Julie Bradstreet were the first winners.
