Ground Game Leads Eagles To 5th Win
The Husson Eagles used over 500 yards of offense to beat Castleton 44-26 and in the process have achieved the best start in program history improving to 5-1 on the season.Freshman sensation John Smith led an explosive running attack that totaled 348 yards on the day. Smith racked up 179 yards and 2 touchdowns while Logan Steward added 120 yards and 2 touchdowns. Husson scored 28 points in the second quarter and took a 37- 16 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Quarterback Joe Seccereccia threw for 173 yards and a touchdown pass to Josiah Hartley. Hartley and Deon Wiggins each finished the day with 4 catches.
Captain Ellis Throckmorton led the defense with 12 tackles including a sack and 2 tackles for a loss.
Husson is now 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference. The Eagles return to the Winkin Complex next week for their final home game of the season against Anna Maria College.
